Well I just loved this book. It transported me back to my younger days of reading the shopaholic series of Kinsellas. Between relating deeply to the burnout story and just falling in love with the characters, I enjoyed every moment of this book.

Sasha has had it. She cannot bring herself to respond to another inane, “urgent” (but obviously not at all urgent) email or participate in the corporate employee joyfulness program. She has not seen her friends in months. Sex? Seems like a lot of effort. Even cooking dinner takes far too much planning. Sasha has hit a wall.
Armed with good intentions to drink kale smoothies, try yoga, and find peace, she heads to the seaside resort she loved as a child. But it’s the off season, the hotel is in a dilapidated shambles, and she has to share the beach with the only other a grumpy guy named Finn, who seems as stressed as Sasha. How can she commune with nature when he is sitting on her favorite rock, watching her? Nor can they agree on how best to alleviate their burnout ( manifesting, wild swimming; drinking whisky, getting pizza delivered to the beach).
When curious messages, seemingly addressed to Sasha and Finn, begin to appear on the beach, the two are forced to talk—about everything. How did they get so burned out? Can either of them remember something they used to love? (Answer: surfing!) And the question they try and fail to ignore: what does the energy between them signify?
I am not sure how to feel about this. It definitely was not what I was expecting. This book was my first book by the author, so I cannot compare it with her other books. The beginning started out great. It was very relatable and just rooting for Sasha. However, after that it just got slow. I just thought it was a little too long, maybe if it was a bit shorter I would have liked it more. There was just too much going on all at once. For being led to believe it was a romance, there is barely any romance. I did not root them to be together. Their friendship was nice, but the relationship building was really lacking. I think maybe they were better off as friends. And all the miscommunication in the book was so frustrating. I am probably definitely in the minority, since a lot of people loved this one, but it was just not for me.
