4⭐️ i really enjoyed this next book in the FBAA series. there were times where it felt like A LOT of information dumping on the page and dragged a bit. I wished there were more actions scenes towards the end because I loved those! I love all the characters in this series, the wolven and the draken holding a special place in my heart. After this ending, I’m intrigued where the story is going and to see how it goes into the Flesh and Fire series!

⚠️ REVIEW WITH SPOILERS ⚠️
i really enjoyed this book which was a shock considering i didn’t like neither kingdom of flesh and fire nor the crown of gilded bones!

the book definitely started slow, which could have resulted in a boring read, but the fact that it took me two weeks (between exams and a reading slump) helped diluting the story and it made me appreciate it.

as much as i couldn’t wait to see casteel and poppy back together, it was exciting to see her character development and how confident she now is. also, casteel’s absence was balanced out with his povs, which i was afraid could be boring, but they actually tied together the first half of the book really nicely.

my favorite thing was definitely seeing how poppy and kieran’s relationship developed. he was always one of my favorite characters and i love the bond between the two of them, it’s really special. i can’t fathom how people saw some kind of betrayal towards casteel, especially because we see how he’s happy to see their bond and all three of them have always shared a deep connection. it all tied together perfectly with the union.

i’m really hoping jennifer will maintain this kind of relationship with them, THEY HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL! (but i fear she won’t do it 😭).

i loved the ending (also thanks j. for not killing delano and the others ily). i can’t wait to read the next book now that things have become really exciting!

Phew. That was a lot. I liked some things, didnt like others. But I’m just happy the characters I cared about made it out alive, and for the most part physically unscathed.

I loved this. I really enjoyed this and the way the plot picks up, and the emotional damage this book did - there were parts where I was I wanted to cry because it felt so well written and so real. The dual POV is always a winner, but at this point I was fully invested.

I felt like we got more learning and explanation of things and the detail behind them, which I really enjoyed, and then the character relationships and the levels of depth that you could find was really quite refreshing. I love a good personality flaw and I felt like we got sight of those quite well.

I'm not ready for book 5 to be the last published book.
