This series just keeps getting better. I enjoy the complexities of the mental battle Poppy must face as she looks to keep her people safe, to save  her loved ones, to limit war; all while accepting that sometimes it can’t be avoided when you are a leader. The humanness of wanting to hurt those who have hurt those she loves, while not wanting to be the monster they prophesied she is, is captivating and relatable.

I wanted to read this book because I had seen it all over the book community and everyone has been raving about it. Everyone says this book is the better book in the series, yet I found it soooo boring and such a filler book and I was slowly losing the will to live whilst reading this book.

This book has two points of view. The first is Casteel Da’Neer and he knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable. The second point of view is Poppy and nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace. Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear and to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be – what she fears the most. As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

This series is driving me up the wall. It was so slow and it’s getting to the point of repetitive. War, transport, swearing, betrayal, sex, Poppy is the chosen one and has all these powers. ZERO ACTION. This reminds me why I read multiple books at a time because I would have gone into a reading slump, I had to keep making myself go back to it because I wanted it to be over, but it was like torture just to read it. This book did NOT need to be 637 pages long, this book could have been 200 pages long – Poppy saves Cas, Kieran gets cursed, they have a threesome, go to the church, all hell breaks loose, end of the book. Also, I'm still hating the whole “chosen one” and she has all the powers bullshit. Like if there is a found family in this book surely the team should have the powers split between them rather than Poppy being this God or Primal and unbeatable person because she still gets beaten every single book, all she needs to do now is become invisible and she might win the fight.

I’m so glad that Malik was getting sick of this shit because I was as well. This stopped me rating the book 1 star because Malik sarcastic comments and being sick of the family is me. Honestly, this book doesn’t need the cliffhanger, it could have ended with a nice little bow and just be four books. But obviously not.

this one was a bit slower than the rest of the series and the repetitions of specific phrases and plot points is getting a bit tiring but I'm still very much invested in the plot. it's also cool to know the side characters more and see their relationships to each other, I'm pretty curious about Malik and Millie tbh

I really liked how Kieran and Poppy were able to develop a bond on their own and how that complemented their relationships with Cas, though I found the Joining a bit underwhelming idk

The first 3/4 of this book is 4⭐️ with the last quarter being 4.5⭐️

Cas/Poppy and Nyktos/Sera are everything. These may be some of my favorite couples 🥵 Parts of this one did drag out for me and got a little just meh, but the last part had me going through so many emotions that it just made up for the rest of the book. I went from tense to anxious, nervous, mad, sobbing, hopeful, ecstatic, to being anxious again for what's to come. I do feel that the ending was rushed, and I have sooo many questions and plots running through my head. And I swear if one hair is touched on Kieran, Reaver, or Delano, I will riot. PS I love that the girls are so strong and badass.

was blown away by the things that happened at the end of this book. I adored the time kieran and poppy had together. the adventure/action vs worldbuilding and information was great but there are still a few things that bothered me.

!!! spoilers ahead !!!

1) in the first 3 books we get so many secondary characters, like delano, niall, emil, vonetta etc. but in TWOTQ we barely get anything about them. of course I'm happy that kieran and poppy's relationship developed more in this one but I would've loved more of the others too. especially since tawny appeared again too.

2) the way poppy's parentage and powers keep changing each book is getting kinda weird and very confusing. I get that it's a big universe with a lot of new information but I can't keep up.

3) there was such a good opportunity for the joining to become a relationship between kieran, poppy and casteel but it didn't happen. the joining felt off to me. they've all expressed deep seeted love for one another but somehow kieran and casteel didn't even kiss once but both had sex with poppy...? it just doesn't seem right to me. the author could've done so much better but she didn't.

4) building further on the missed opportunities: kieran and reaver had such chemistry and banter and literally nothing came from it.

anyway, I enjoyed it but it was lacking in many departments.
