*Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this advance copy!

Taking place 100 years after the end of Malice, Misrule shows what Briar looks like now. Alyce has changed everything, from the once green gardens to those in her court, and even her name. Nothing remains from the once thriving Briar, except for Aurora. She sleeps waiting for Alyce, now Nimara, to find a way to break her curse, and figure out what will happen after she wakes up again.

What I liked:
Honestly so much of this was so much fun! The first book took such a fun twist to the normal Sleeping Beauty story, and this just continued that. I loved seeing the imps and goblins. They were so fun and brought a nice break to the such a dark and serious story. I also appreciated watching Nimara/Alyce work through her hatred for shifters because of what she experienced. It felt very real, and she didn't just get over it instantly. Also the ending, while it was very bittersweet, I felt was absolutely perfect for Alyce. She never had a chance to figure out who she was and what she wanted to do, until then.

What I didn't like:
There is only one thing that I wasn't in love with in this book that kept it from being a 5 star, and that was the stakes. For it being a sequel, having Aurora asleep, threats from different kingdoms, trying to find out who's actually loyal, it didn't feel that high stakes. It felt like they were casually floating going through it, and even when things starting to move faster, it felt like it never matched what happened in the first book. But it was still a fun time and I enjoyed seeing how Alyce was able to let down her walls as more time passed.

Would I recommend?
YES! Please read this! Well read the first book first, then the second. I'm not the biggest fan of Sleeping Beauty because it feels so boring, and Aurora doesn't actually have a a lot that she gets to do in the story. Everything is decided for her and she goes with it, but this book takes all of that away. Aurora is a strong character and everything is so fun. Please read!

This was a decent sequel!! It did take me a while to get through, probably just how busy I was and because it was a slower start it was harder to get through. I found myself skimming through a lot of the beginning just because nothing was happening!! Towards the middle it gets better, the pacing is better, but then it goes kinda slow again?? So like the middle part was fine to read and like the very end but other than that the pacing was just either slow or just not very interesting and wanting to keep me interested. I did like the ending, how it wasn't exactly the ~happiest~ of endings but it was good for each of the characters and that last line with Aurora and Alyce was just so cute!
