I found the paranormal and second chance romance aspects of the book to be quite interesting. Rose's abilities were, to me, a different take on shapeshifting. However, I found the final chapters (the battle with the villain) very frustrating, and I kept getting annoyed whenever Rose would (inconveniently or conveniently, depending on how you look at things) keep forgetting or not be able to bring her amulet. On a final note, the comments regarding Daniel at the end were quite intriguing.

That - was painful. I kept waiting for it to get better, and by the time I realized that it was as good as it was going to get, I was so close to the end that I just dragged myself through to the finish.

It's not the worst thing I've read, but it's disappointing in that it tricked me into thinking it could be better. I kept waiting for character growth, consistency, a sweet romance, anything really ... and instead arrived at the end, unsatisfied and annoyed.
