The stories were eerie and sort of beautiful. The illustrations in this edition captured that fairly well. The colour palette worked really well. The slightly cartoony style didn't always get the atmosphere right for me, however.

This was beautiful...I thought it was a short story, so it was much longer than I expected and I was surprised by the gradual shift in the story. It began with a slow and lovely natural focus, then shifted into a hauntingly elegant? supernatural horror. There's not a lot of plot, but the writing - descriptions, mood - was beautiful.

It was a nice book and easy to understand. Nothing was really scary but the scary elements were definitely there.

Eerily wonderous

Broad daylight and I still feel a little breathless. Amazing how dark words on light paper can create more vivid images and real feelings of terror than any gory movie. I may never trust the willows again.

Tavsiye ediyorum.

I was enjoying the scenery described while reading it at night and had to very suddenly stop reading it and finish it in broad daylight as surrounded with people as the social distancing will allow. Amazingly chilly.

It was the first eco-gothic piece that I read. And when I first put my hands on this masterpiece, I didn't expect it to affect me this much!
The duality of nature always amazed me; its beauty and terror. And Blackwood's The Willows captures the essence of cosmic horror. The written manifest of the seen, unseen, and even beyond entities was fascinating. I will precisely say that I will look more into his works.
