dark slow-paced
Why would you write something where the characters are all hideously unlikeable, build a weird dystopian alternative side-world without actually fleshing it out, and then call it done? The misogyny in the prose is horrid, and the author can't write a female character with any degree of plausibility. The male characters are also all thoroughly awful, and everyone reads like a caricature. There's no tension, no real horror, and nothing at all redeemable in these pages. The worst thing I've read in years. I don't know why I bothered crawling to the end.
