this book is INSANE.

i couldn't count on my hands the number of major characters who are now dead as a result of this book. i genuinely don't know where the story is going to go from here because so many relevant people are just gone hahaha

so many monumental events took place here. part 1 of a storm of swords was working very hard to set this book up, but i'm glad it did. because wow, the pay off was amazing.

i am absolutely bamboozled by how much action there is in this book. i feel like ygritte would definitely be telling me that i know nothing because there was seemingly a plot twist in every chapter.

the usual awards:
BEST POV : tyrion, sansa, arya
WORST POV : daenerys (im sorry i love her but her story is so far detached from the events i want to hear about), bran, davos

cannot wait to read more. so excited by the fact that there's still two (three) books to go

When I finished a Clash of Kings I assumed I had already reached a peak of this series after Game of Thrones but I was so very wrong.

A Storm of Swords is where everything finally starts coming into play and we take down some real contenders to the crown. In some ways this is Jon’s book and nothing could prepare me for when Jon escapes the wildlings with an arrow to the leg by Ygritte. Nor her death.

Arya’s story, while a majority of it is wondering the middle lands of Westeros, is still my favourite to read, especially scenes between her and the Hound.

Sansa also goes through a huge change in this book. We see her get married, escape The Red Keep and then start to learn more about Littlefinger. From other reviews, many people do not like Sansa, but she is someone who is slowly gaining survival tactics and an understanding of what is truly means to be a Lady.

I’m starting to wonder what Dany’s role is in this book and I still can’t help but feel her story seems lost. It constantly feels like she’s searching for something else and never satisfied with the now - something she decides to change at the end when settling in the city. Let her dragons grow!

This could also be Tyrion’s story. From hand of the king to ‘kingslayer” though the truth about Tysha is truly heartbreaking and even more heartbreaking than Shae’s betrayal.

Goodbye Twyin. Which is a shame but what a way to go…

Is there anyone else I’ve missed? There are so many players. Catelyn? Well yeah… she’s a zombie now.
