Let me begin by saying I have never disliked a book as much as this one. It came to a point where I seriously considered shelving it under 'dnf' even though I was almost done with it. Nevertheless, I soldiered through, hoping the ending might help redeem the story. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more wrong.
The book's premise is quite intriguing as the plot revolves around an independent spice farmer who on a drunken walk home saves a demonโs life. What follows is an adventure to destroy an undead goddess and save the world. However, that is where the intrigue ends.
Upon embarking on this adventure, the protagonist and demon become romantic interests, which isn't surprising when you're journeying together for so long. What did bother me was how quickly and suddenly it happened. There was no build-up to it, nor was there any resistance between them falling in love and ending up together. The entire romance was quite anti-climactic and lacked chemistry. It lacked emotional intensity and seemed to be all about sex, which was rather distasteful.
The quest part of the story though interesting, lacked depth. The fantastical elements were underdeveloped and just brushed over which was a severely missed opportunity as a lot could have been done in terms of worldbuilding and character development. If the number of words and pages dedicated to the descriptive sex scenes were instead utilised to explain the mythical beings, the villain, and the high-stakes quest; this book really could have been an excellent piece of work.
All in all, this novel was rather unimpressive with its juvenile writing. It came highly recommended due to its premise but alas, didn't live up to the expectation.

I hate coersed affection and hesitation. Girl you either know or you don't. He doesn't have to plop you in his lap and kiss you for you to guess it's ok. Kinda eww. They didn't even know each other (at all) and he's like "I saw you, I wanted you, so now you're mine". And she's like " I don't want this but he washed my hair so now I'm swooning and can't breathe without him". In the span of like two chapters. It was boring and typical for such a strongly depicted female lead. Who by the way is so oblivious sometimes I wonder how she did any of the heroic stuff depicted. It was overly unrealistic (7 foot, big dick demon sex aside) even for a fantasy. I don't think I'll continue the series as the writing is a bit too cliche and the jokes and humor were childish for being a spicy romance. Shock and awe for the sake of being "that kind of spicy book". Nothing really fit into place imo.
I will add I did really like Felix, so I MIGHT read book two to continue his story.

um HELLO? i was not expecting to get an epic journey in the book but the author DELIVERED.
the romance was so sweet, the scenes spicy, the banter absolutely hilarious, and the tension was actually high. i could not put this book down.

The story was fun and adventurous, but I found the friendly narration a little too much, and didn't particularly enjoy the over the top ogling of all the demons. Also, the easy acceptance of just killing anyone and everyone (like the other tavern owner's tavern being burned down whilst he was presumed to be in it) was a little too ridiculous.
Also, every male in this book that had ginger hair was ridiculed or evil in some way, which wasn't my cup of tea either.
I would recommend this if you want an easy read without thinking too much into it.
