In the book, the little fish has stolen a hat from a big fish. The little fish thinks he will get away with it, but will he?
The illustrations complement the story nicely. The colors make the ready feel as if they are in the water with the fish. illustrations a fairly simple, which draws the focus to the eye of the big fish - the emotions of the big fish are shown by the eye, which adds a dimension to the story.
The little fish thinks he can hide from the big fish in the weeds, but the big fish finds him and gets his hat back. The book is done in such a way that the reader is left to draw his own conclusions as to the fate of the little fish - I really enjoyed that aspect.

This tale tells a story of a fish who stole a hat from a bigger sleeping fish. He passed a crab and thought the crab wouldn’t tell where he was going but the pictures depict that the crab told the big fish. The crab ends by saying that he made it to the plants that are “big and tall and close together”. The book ends with pictures of the plants and the big fish passing the crab again with his hat. We don’t see the little fish, just another picture of plants. The images all have a black background and that everything else is ink pressed onto the black. This proves as a prime example of how images can support text within a picture book. The text is the experience that the main fish is having while the images tell a different side, one that is quite the opposite of what the little fish is expecting. The use of images is a bit cheeky and brings on a few chuckles from the misfortune of a fish's questionable choices.

I had to read this book a couple of times because I was not sure how I felt about it at first but on the second go (this time sharing it with my husband), I found it to be really humorous, possibly dark but I think that is the beauty of the book. We don't know what happened in that place "where the plants are big and tall and close together!" The ending can be left up to to the imagination of the reader. A parent might choose to say that the big fish ate the little fish and got his hat back or did they just have a nice chat and that little fish learned his lesson and gave the big fish back his hat. Who knows! Regardless, it leaves it open for parents to have a discussion with their children about stealing and the repercussions of this little fish's bad behavior.

The illustrations are simply beautiful, subtle in color, and whimsically drawn (check out the character's eyes!). I really enjoyed this book and will actively seek out more from this illustrator/author.

This was a really interesting and fun book. A little fish steals a hat from a big fish and thinks he can get away with it. And what follows is a really big angry fish following the smaller fish.

I absolutely loved the illustrations, they were really beautiful and I loved to see them.

Well I would really recommend this book to everyone!

I love this book! I analyzed it for my picture book class. The first two illustrations complement the text, but after that the illustrations start to contradict the text, until at the climax they completely replace the text. It's such a fun book!
