What a really nice book. Claire de Lune was a quick, easy, funny read with some mystery and that tint of supernatural goodness.

Claire de Lune isn't a typical werewolf story--so don't not read this just because you fear a predictable read. Werewolves are known in Hanover Falls. You have to be born a werewolf to be a werewolf. And the best one yet: there are only female werewolves. Boys born to a werewolf die instantly. We meet Claire at her sixteenth birthday party where she has gained the attention of Matthew Engle--a really gorgeous guy--and semi popular. Not to mention that his dad is all anti-werewolf. But there is only one real topic at the party: the recent werewolf attacks that have the town people staying in after dark and keeping guns by the door. On her sixteenth birthday her usually not there mother introduces Claire to the world of werewolves and how she is now one of them.

I loved the characters in Claire de Lune. While the only major set back was the fact that we didn't see much of the pack (not as much as I would have liked, anyway), despite one of the ending scenes being a really dramatic moment, I felt like the pack had to be introduced more for the announcement to reach its full 'wow' edge.

Claire is great and we see some awesome characterisation from her as she delves deeper into her relationship with Matthew, the relationship with her mother and pack, as well as her coming to peace with her new form, and finding out who is really the murderer (which honestly wasn't much of a surprise). Okay, so the pack wasn't the only set back. The writing, I think, could have improved just a bit. We don't get much of a description of the settings or people and I think it could have improved a bit more. Mainly, the writing was the biggest let down.

Other than that Claire de Lune was a great read and I look forward to reading the sequel.

This was another recent read that was just ok for me. I hadn't seen this author before and I heart were-animals so I really wanted to like it too, so I am kind of bummed about that. I did like the concept of the werewolf being matriarchal, I thought that was a sweet idea. This book is less like an action packed werewolf book and more like a coming of age story. I also think the author gave the teens a very real portrayal, they all acted just like I think teens do, or I did when I was one

I thought this would just be another cliche werewolf book going in to it (maybe a rip off of Blood and Chocolate) but it definitely wasn't! Claire de Lune has a strong plot with no werewolf cliches and awesome characters. It also delves into the werewolf world some too, not just the human side, which made it even more interesting!

Not bad, not great. I read it while sick in bed and wanted something easy and enjoyable, and it was exactly that.

4 stars, this is a very nice book about a teenage werewolf. So far most books I've read are about adult werewolves, so I really liked that this one was about a teenager. The story is pretty original; it is about a teenage werewolf, who is just getting into her powers. The world knows that werewolves exists and they are hunting for a man-eating werewolf in claire's hometown.

There are some minor details about the werewolves I found a bit strange and in the beginning I had some difficulties accepting them
Spoiler like how there are only female werewolves and they worship some goddess. And I really didn't like Claire's mom at first
. In the beginning the book was okay but not great. But it got betetr and better and in the end I really liked it and now I can't wait to read the next book.

The focus of this book is really on Claire and how she is dealing with the knowledge that she is turning into a werewolf, combined with falling in love and having to lie to her boyfriend and her best friend. I would've liked more details about the other characters, I found it difficult to get a good idea of who they where. While we get a really good idea of who Claire is, she is brave and want to do things her way. I found her a strong character, escpecially for someone so young and I liked how she deals with everything that happens.

Also there is the matter of the murdering werewolf, there are some clues in the beginning which really make me believe I got it all figured out.
Spoiler it looked so obviously that Lisbeth would be the man-eating werewolf, she was always disapearing when there where killings etc. I was really surprised to find out she wasn't the killer
. But in the end there is such a nice plot twist. The ending is really good too.

To conclude a really good werewolf book. there where some minor details I found a bit strange, but overal the book is really good. We get to know Claire very good, while the other characters get less attention. The plot is also good and it contains some nice unexpected twists.

There's not a lot of good I can say about Claire de Lune. The only thing that kept me reading was wanting to know who the rogue werewolf was. And if the rogue's POV hadn't been included, even as few times as it was, I probably wouldn't have continued at all. The main character, Claire, and her best friend, Emily, were so very annoying, and would say things like, "OMG! I totally can't believe this is happening!" Claire was less vexing when she wasn't talking to Emily, but there were moments when I just wanted to slap her and say, "GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF! AND STOP OVERUSING THE WORD TOTALLY!"

Other than an annoying main character, I was about ¾ of the way through the book before anything really happened. Yes, Claire found out she was a werewolf, and yes, she turned for the first time, but most of the book was her talking to Emily, going out with Matthew, the romantic interest, and trying to get information about being a werewolf out of her mother. In the last fourth of the book the rogue hits close to home, and a chapter or two later unveils her identity. That is when things really start to get interesting, but up until then? Very boring.

Over all, I was disappointed with Claire de Lune. The only saving grace was the ending, but even that can't totally make up for the beginning and middle. I gave it a ½ lump rating because I don't think the book is poo, but I would borrow it before you bought it.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way paid for my opinions*

This book wouldn't have been so bad except it had no build up. A few chapters in and ban she's a werewolf. No mysterious signs, nothing. Just bam. Totally ruined it for me

A solid 3.5 stars for this nice little take on werewolf folklore... it had a novel storyline and the main characters were likeable enough... it picked up towards the end of the book...
Very teen orientated so I'd recommend it to younger readers

I couldn't even finish it. Maybe it would be better for a middle school or elementary school kid.
