As with many literary reviews, each issue of Moss is a mix of the wonderful and the instantly forgettable. Issue Five delivers the goods with truly outstanding fiction from Omar El Akkad, Aaron Gilbreath, Ben Goldfarb, and particularly Jess Walter, who steals the show with his magically delightful story "No Hero".

Also noteworthy is Amy Wilson's insightful interview with Leah Sottile, who is one of the most important journalists currently working in the Pacific Northwest (see particularly her "Bundyville" articles which were also made into a podcast series).

If the rest of the contents are a wash, the pieces noted above are enough to make the issue worthwhile, and I look forward to future installments of Moss.
