Spent most of the time confused and thus disengaged from the story.

2.5. What a strange story. Either it was confusing or I just wasn’t following closely enough. But it didn’t make a lot of sense to me.

The art is nice.

Even if there are some serious holes in the plot, it's a lovely novel.
You are your own source of magic, spells are about dominating your will over nature, you can't decide how you got it but you can do whatever you like with it.
I choose helping.

I'm not really a fan of the art style, but the premise was interesting.

This is very pretty, and I can see the story it is trying to tell, but an older creepy adult doing something to a teenager without consent, even if it turns out to be very cool, was just more than I can deal with. I did force myself to finish it, but I was uncomfortable the whole way through.

Still love Viadurri's sparse, emotive style. Liked the story of Iron: Or the War After better, but this one scratched the itch.

What a beautiful book! The art is simply stunning and story was touching. A real fantasy gem.

Not sure why it's called Iscariot when he's not the main character, really.
