It had its slow moments! But overall, I was not disappointed.

Again, this book was a very quick read. There were some cringe - worthy parts in the book, which is why I gave it 3 stars. But overall, it was a fun read and will most likely continue on.

The story starts with Emma waking up in the hospital to find out that she lost her parents in a car crash that she had survived. She is also informed that her mom’s half-sister, Elaine, a relative that Emma had no idea existed, is going to become her legal guardian and she is going to move from California to Alaska.

Emma doesn’t know what to think about Elaine because she is too distraught about her parents. Her two best friends pack suitcases for Emma and bring them to the hospital. Elaine sends someone to pick Emma up, a guy, Kade, that seems to be around the same age as Emma. When she touches him, he immediately causes her to feel tingly and shocks throughout her. She eventually learns that she causes him the same reaction. On the way to Alaska, Emma is attacked by what she learns to be a Darkling.

She also learns a few things about herself and her parents once she is in Alaska. Apparently, some things are after her and wants her dead especially before she turns eighteen. Living in Alaska, might not be as mundane as Emma thinks it will be. Unfortunately, it could cost her life.

I saw pretty great reviews for this book, so I was really stoked when the price of this went down and immediately purchased it. The beginning of this was really slow for me. It was still readable, but I just think I had too high of expectations before I started reading it.

Some people may not like this, but the story itself only takes place over a few days. Personally, I liked that it only spanned a few days and was fast-paced with the description. It did take me a while before I got into it, but I really enjoyed it. It has just enough action not to push me over the edge.

I really can’t wait to see wait develops between Kade and Emma. In a way, I’m glad that Cameo didn’t rush it between them, but another part of me just wanted them to go ahead and kiss. Kade isn’t my favorite among the male guardians, but I still am interested to see what happens between them.

While the story was a quick read, the plot seemed a bit thin. Spanning a period of three days, Emma's life goes through some pretty dramatic changes and revelations.

What I didn't believe was how quickly she could fall for Kade just a couple of days after her parents' death in a car accident. The guardians (or rather, BOYS) also drove me crazy with their childish arguments. And the joke about who has killed more bad guys has been done before (and much better) in Lord of the Rings.

I'm not sure this series is worth continuing.

This book left me speechless, breathless and aching for more. The story gives away a lot of things you didn't know yet, but keeps so many questions unanswered at the same time. It keeps the story interesting and makes you want to read more and more after every chapter to know what secret will be unraveled next.

maybe because it’s 12.30 am or something but I’m strangely loving this book??
the writing isn’t even that good, the plot line is not original and yes, it’s a little insta lovey for my liking but there is something about this that I’m living for??
I don’t even know my own head sometimes but I’ll read book two now seeing as I’m awake and see what I feel.

So ever since I saw Haley's review of this over at YA-Aholic, I've wanted to read it. So when I got accepted for a review copy, I was over the moon! I love angels and demons, and a few years ago I went through a complete stage of being obsessed with them - now I remember why! Hidden Wings was fast-paced and furious, with a witty band of characters and enemies like no other.

After surviving a seemingly fatal car accident that killed her whole family, Emma Wise is flown away to Alaska to live with an aunt she has never heard of or met before. However, what she thinks is a bad situation is only going to get worse - creatures, dark, dark creatures exist and not just in her nightmares, and they want Emma for reasons unbeknownst to her. Luckily, she's got a team of Guardian Angels to look out for her.

I'm desperately trying not to fangirl over Kade and I'm failing miserably. Don't you just hate it when a fictional character is perfect and their fictional-ness keeps coming back to slap you in the face? He was honestly amazing - thumbs up for swoon-worthy characterisation! I think his characterisation definitely made up for what was lacking in Emma's. A lot of me admired her character, as she was very brave in the face of danger and absorbed a heck of a lot of information at a very fast pace. However, her priorities were all over the shop. I understand that Kade is delicious and very disarming and distracting but her parents had just died! Surely it wouldn't just take a perfect guy to cheer her up from such a life-changing experience? Though I guess I can't be pleased either way, because her constant crying stressed me out, too.

I don't really know how I feel about the pace of the novel. Nothing and everything happened all at once. There was an awful lot of action for about fifty percent of the book, which is loved - nothing is worse than a boring book! But then again, the reader didn't really find out much about what the story is about. There are angels, there are fallen angels...and Emma (spoilers for the rest of the paragraph) is some weird mix between an Angel and a Nephilim. I'm not entirely sure what the Guardians are, I'm not sure about much of Emma's backstory, I know nothing about her potential abilities...it was all just a bit of guesswork (and there were NO kissing scenes with Kade! At all! In the entire 200 pages! NONE!)

Overall, I really enjoyed Hidden Wings. Although not a lot happened in this first instalment, Renae has set up an entire storyline that could develop into something really amazing, and I can't wait to get my hands on Broken Wings.

I liked this. I probably would have continued on (absolutely abrupt ending) if the next book also had audio on Kindle Unlimited. I might read on as a Prime picks sometime in the future. We'll see.

The story feels like some others. Girl wakes after an accident, life changed. Here, her parents were killed and she has an aunt (she didn't know about) welcoming her. Escorts (insta-attraction) ... come to escort her to Alaska. Weird things happen. Magical healing. Dark monsters. Then the ANGEL theme is introduced. Nephilim and fallen angels.

The story kept my interest, but I'm not sure how much will really stick in my memory.
