This book disguises itself as a study of family, but it's written like a common core test- too much info that in the end, ties up to the story somehow, but for me it was a letdown.

I wish I could give it 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the last 2/3 of the book but I struggled with the beginning. It felt like too much unnecessary background information and I was hoping they would tie up with the main story but it never did. This story could have done without the first 1/3 of the book. I listened to the audio book and liked the performance.

It felt like several short stories mashed together- this first two were pretty interesting but the final chapter was ridiculous. The book ended with so many inconstancies I'm annoyed I spent time finishing this.
