This was my first Allie Therin book, and I'm sorry I hadn't picked them up sooner! I wouldn't recommend starting here like I did, because this series is clearly a spinoff of another series. The world-building and character introductions were still done well enough that I knew what was going on and I wasn't confused, but it made me really want to read the other series to get all the background I was missing. The grumpy-sunshine type romance is excellent, a lot of Sebastian and Wesley's initial dialogue had me chuckling out loud. I listened to this on audiobook and the narrator was great. They also narrated The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen, and I'd recommend that as well if you liked this.
Moderate: Gun violence, Sexual content, Violence, Murder, and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Confinement, Torture, and War

Love this book, a magical adventure with 2 characters who are polar opposites from each other and grow to love each other. We need more sweet marshmallows like Sebastian and Wesley is so snarky and funny.
Moderate: Death and Sexual content
Minor: Homophobia, Torture, Kidnapping, War, and Injury/Injury detail

When Lord Fine first stepped off the boat and onto the page in the Magic in Manhattan series, I was intrigued. When we watched Sebastian come back to himself from everything he had endured, I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and protect him. When I heard there was a Lord Fine and Sebastian book coming out, I couldn't wait. This book delivers in a big way, with explanations of who these two characters are. We watch them grow together and grow as people. It's beautiful.
I will be reading this again because I read it so fast, I want to go back and savor it the second time through.
