Ultimately I was torn in the ratings. I can be persuaded or may even change my opinion once I actually read this author. I did, however, listen to this as an audiobook. The story was very good. Very criminal-mind-y but the characters are a little flat and predictable. Again, this may be influenced by the narration of the audiobook. Therefore, I’m going to stick with my 3 star rating until I read one these books. Will definitely grab book #2. I’ve been looking for good, quick reads to read in between books.

i lovveee criminal minds and this book reminds me a lot of it. i really enjoyed the fast-paced serial killer investigation storyline and the character development of ella and mia. i loved the differing character perspectives and the chapters from the killer’s POV too! i would recommend to any crime fan!

The characters were one dimensional and left a lot to be desired. The concept of the killer’s particular MO was intellectually engaging but it was never really explored further. It was far too full of tropes (super competent, hot newbie agent is really good at everything until the exact moment she needs to be, etc.) and strained the suspension of belief too often. Not one I would choose again.

My second audiobook for the year and it did not disappoint. The ending fell a little flat but it made for a gripping listen. 3.8/5
