A story that starts in 16th Century France and leads all the way up to present day. A Anne Rice influenced story that attempts to tell the Vampire Tale from the point of view of a female Lestat. Unfornutaly Vivienne has none of the charisma of Lestat, or any of Anne Rice’s vampire’s.

So much of the book took place during the French Revolution, but you really wouldn’t have known. It was a shame the Vivenne spent all of the turmoil, drama, and excitement holed up in her brothel. Human’s came and went, some were even turned but none were interesting enough for me to care about. The story was slow and drawn out, and finally when the twist and some drama came it was anti climatic. Even though I would not have guessed the exact details of the twist, I knew it and who was coming. I won’t be continuing with this series, I didn’t read the second book in Thirst because I was bored, and I doubt I’ll be reading anything else from this author.
