I'm gonna say it: This book is terrible. I thought this was going to be a book about building and maintaining healthy female friendships, with relatable stories of the authors' friendship sprinkled in. Instead, the book is a *very detailed* play-by-play of the authors' lives, with little helpful advice for others. I know the authors have a podcast so maybe their fans will enjoy this. For everyone else, don't waste your time.

A beautiful look at sustaining long term friendship, the ups and downs that come with transitions and the commitment to one another to keep close. This was a beautiful read and is impactful especially so after such a big move away from all of my close friends

This was so different from any book I’ve read because it’s in the narration of ‘we’. Aminatou and Ann wrote this as a love letter to their friendship and there continuation on working on each other’s bond. I like that they think of friendship as an intimate bond just like that of romantic relationships. Some of my favorite chapters were The Trapdoor and Too Big To Fail. This book helped me reflect on past and current friendship and their individual health. Definitely a good recommendation for friends to start hard conversations.

“Our choice to show up at weddings as a family unit wasn’t a cute stunt. It was an extension of our political beliefs that friendship is a relationship that’s equal in importance to romantic and family bonds” pg 53

Deeply grateful that the authors chose to be so open and honest about their struggles to maintain their close friendship. (Having listened to their podcast for years, I had had no idea!)
