Heathcliff is a dick.

I can deal with unlikeable characters if they are interesting and well-developed. However, this book such an abhorrent cast of characters. The plot revolves around one person being an asshole, and everyone else thinking "this sucks", but doing nothing else otherwise.
Writing was not my cup of tea either.

Beautifully written, but I had a hard time getting into it due to absolutely hating Heathcliff and Cathy.

Far better than Jane Eyre though I would have preferred a more tragic ending.

This is definitely faster and easier to read than many other classics I have read, and it is an interesting story about obsession, love, jealousy, and generational trauma. I enjoyed how atmospheric and well-written it was, definitely a great one to read for spooky season, but I struggle to say I enjoyed the book as a whole since all of the characters were driving me crazy with their melodrama and toxicity. :P
