I was told the book would be a gripping thriller and it was. The twist at the end cheapened the story.

Went in blind to reading this book. Not what I expected. I was really into the beginning and it did a good job of merging the different POV together seamlessly . But the explanation was left for the last like 50-80 pages and felt so rushed and left me feeling like “that’s it??”

At first I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the book... It took me a couple weeks to finish it. Normally when I enjoy a book I devour it... It's not until the last third of the book that I couldn't put it down. I 100% did not see where it was going to end and when I did.. wow! Definitely worth the read... I love when I can't figure out the book before I finish.... I do wonder if I missed a couple red herrings because I wasn't 100% invested in it and for a long time I couldnt understand why one of the narrators was even apart of it and the. You get to a certain chapter and you just .. can't wrap your mind around it! I say give it a shot. I see mixed reviews all the time but I'm glad I finished it.

An excellent thriller!! I enjoyed the writing style and the different perspectives! The twists are crazy, but the story felt a little disjointed at times.

If you can stomach the first chapter of this book, you're in for an amazing story. The first chapter highlights child abuse and how she escapes so it was hard to hear but the story was excellent. I didn't predict it at all and the red herrings made sense. The timeline was kinda confusing but it all made sense in the end and was an interesting way to tell this story. I definitely recommend this one.

“He stares at her too long, his expression unclear. "When people do dumb shit like this, they always wind up dead."”

Mary Kubica knows how to write a thriller! This is the second work I’ve read from this author and I loved it just as much as the first. I absolutely love her writing style; it keeps you guessing until the very end, and this one is no exception.

Local Woman Missing takes place in a small town where three people actually go missing within a few days of one another. It’s told in both a present day timeline and a past timeline (which was 11 years prior/when the people actually go missing). For the first few chapters I was feeling a little confused between the different timeline and perspective changes, but once I got my bearings it was easy and fun to follow along. I had a few theories along the way, but the final reveal was not something I contemplated. I really loved the way the characters were written and felt very immersed into the story. I wish a few of the storylines wrapped up a little better, but overall left feeling satisfied and will absolutely pick up more works by this author.
