Everyone I know always say that 'Iron Man 2’ is the worst movie in the MCU so far. It doesn't have enough action, the villain is stupid and predictable, suddenly there's another Rhodey,...
To those people, I can only say this:
This graphic novel is supposed to give an introduction to the new villain 'Whiplash', while also continuing through 'The Invincible Iron Man' series of the comics.
Readers of the classic Iron man will remember a different Whiplash, who was an even more ridiculous villain
Yep... He wore a SM-outfit...
In this story, we get introduced to the new Whiplash we also get to meet in the movie. To be honest, Anton Venko is a complete different person in the comic than he is in the movie. He still seeks for revenge against Tony, but for a whole other reason this time.
His outfit looks a lot cooler, and they even gave him some resemblance from the Whiplash in the animated series of the '90s.
It's a short story, and a bit predictable. But if you seek a better version to look at the life and motive of Anton Venko, this novel will satisfy you.
Just a last word about the art. Although the cover art looks realistic, the art inside is what you can expect from the comics nowadays. It's pretty with enough detail, and pictures the action perfectly.
