The foundling takes place in London, 1754. We follow the story of Bess Bright who six years before brought her illegitimate daughter to the Foundling hospital, a place where mothers could leave their babies if they had no means of taking care of them.

When Beth has saved up enough to take her daughter back home, she goes back to the Foundling, ready to raise her daughter and have her work alongside her. Hoping she's still alive she arrives at the hospital where they inform her her daughter is no longer there. She was already claimed. By her.

Not knowing where her daughter is, or who might've claimed her, Bess is certain she'll see her girl again. She might even be closer than she realizes.

This is my third Stacey Halls and it was yet again a 4⭐ read.
