Beautiful slice of life story. I loved learning about Japan by just watching this family. And the food!

One of my favorite reads this year.

Quiet, thoughtful, and beautifully illustrated. Not much happens in the way of plot in this second part of the story, but Yaichi's genuine character arc is wonderful and purposeful enough to carry the reader through.

This story is absolutely adorable! It shows the perspectives of Japanese society and cultural norms and how our western norms differ. It certainly showcased bias and prejudice that exist in our lives. As it goes on, My Brother's Husband also teaches a lesson on acceptance and love. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

The story felt sometimes a bit preachy, but I still enjoyed this view to LGBTQ+ issues in Japan. Also, it was so heartwarming that I found myself not minding the heavy-handedness of the themes sometimes.
