I really love how silly but sweet this series is!

I'm weirdly intrigued about what this turkey costume looks like though...

We're back in Licking Thicket, and after getting to know the Johnson family in the previous books, it’s now time for the Jackson and Nutter families to share the spotlight.

Hunter Jackson's family has lived in Licking Thicket for generations, and despite being gay, Hunter has never wanted to leave their small town. He’s built a successful business growing organic houseplants on his family’s land, and though still single—not for lack of effort on the town matchmakers' part—he’s been content with his life. But all that changes when Charlton (Charlie) Nutter, known to the whole town as Junior, Hunter’s childhood friend-turned-enemy, returns just in time for Thanksgiving after being away for 15 years. Hunter has never forgiven Charlton for stealing his turkey before a big competition, and when he bids on Charlton during the town auction, Hunter plans to get his revenge.

The story started off relatively promising. Hunter still holding a grudge against  Charlton even after all these years was amusing at first. Charlton was kind of bland but in an inoffensive way. Unfortunately, the closer we got to the ending, the more uninspired the story became.

Themes: dual POV, friends to enemies to lovers, small town, prodigal son returns

Audio: 4 stars Michael Dean, I enjoy his narrations, but I don't always love all his voices for different characters haha
Book: 3 stars

This was cute, great to be back in the Thicket, but I felt like the middle to end was rushed. I enjoyed the first half of the book way more.

Overall I am glad I picked it up, but I don't think I will remember what happened in this book by the weekend lol.

This story felt SO rushed honestly, even though it was basically the same time span as the other three books in this series. Rounding up to a 3 since it made me laugh a few times, and I always enjoy reading about the main characters from the other books. Other than that, kind of disappointed.

It’s been a while since I read the previous books but it didn’t take long to get right back into the spirit of the Thicket. This crazy small town in Middle Tennessee makes such an impression I feel like I might want to move there!

This book gives us a friends to enemies to lovers story between Hunter Jackson and Charlie Nutter. Childhood friends separated by a Turkey theft and a sudden move out of town. When Junior (Charlie) returns home for Thanksgiving after a 15 year absence he and Hunter finally have the opportunity to hash it out over their split 15 years earlier as children.

The story is a sweet and humorous one with Thicket residents we’ve come to know and love all playing a part in the mending of fences and the start of the new relationship. It’s a lovely tale of knowing where we belong and why. It was a quick and enjoyable read which is no surprise as I know I’m always going to get an entertaining read from these authors.

Great end..

I was a little nervous about this book since it was mentioning characters that had not been previously mentioned. However, I really liked Charlton and Hunter. They started off as enemies that used to be friends and grew into something so sweet. I spent so much time wondering why he had stolen the turkey, I was not prepared for the explanation.

This was a very sweet book and a great end to this series. I’m sad that it is over but I look forward to starting Hijacked, for Carters story.
