The fact that I'm coming close to finishing my all time favourite series is crushing me.

Uh, well, I’ll give the writers this, this one was definitely different. I’m not really sure if that was necessarily a good thing as I really didn’t love how they handled Kampala’s realizations from the end of the previous volume. The love triangle/square was also just unnecessary since it wraps up pretty quickly, even if I was happy to see Bruno again. The villain in that issue was also completely unnecessary and could have been a throwaway instead.

In this volume there are two arcs:

1. The first one is about Kamala having vanished and so her friends make homemade costumes and take shifts as Ms. Marvel. It was nice to see some focus on the team outside of Kamala and have some development for them and it also provided some cleanup for Carol Danvers's character assassination in Civil War II. Though I wish there was a stronger character reason for why Kamala would disappear as it felt unlike her and like she ironically got the short end of the development stick in her own comic.

2. In the second arc, Kamala finds herself in a love triangle between Kareem and Bruno who has returned from Wakanda. I found this arc to be a bit less interesting as I just don't like Bruno and do not understand WHY she'd consider him instead of Kareem like he's just a guy! Hit him with your car! This arc also had a return villain who I wish hadn't returned because they feel like they needed a new arc to be focused on.

I loved that the original art style returned in this volume and how Zoe's arc has progressed from somewhat racist mean girl to a friend of Kamala, making amends, and becoming comfortable in her queerness. Not my favorite installment in the series, but still a fun romp through the New Jersey of the Marvel universe.
