this book got me out of another reading slump, so i guess that’s a big plus. i foresaw some of the plot twists in a way, but the story still gripped me. characters were ok, but they are kinda far from actually good. Jonah started off promisingly with his little jerk persona, then made a complete 360 degrees turn when his whole personality became his attraction to Milly. i now realize he pretty much didn’t actually do anything else major. i liked how Aubrey came to terms in regards to her relationship with her father and i thinks she was the most accurate representation of a real person out of the 3 “cousins”. and her bond with uncle Archer towards the ending was really sweet. as for Milly… she feels unfinished i guess. something is missing about her. a lot of things were left unsaid between her and Allison, i don’t actually get why she wanted to resemble her grandmother that much and nothing really explains her personality.
overall, though, it was an entertaining book, that kept me reading. it has the signature plot twists of Karen McManus, it’s an easy read and came at the right time to get me out of the slump

I tried twice, months apart, and I don’t know why but I just can’t get into it. I usually love this genre and I loved one of us is lying so I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll try again one day
