A wonderful retelling of Cinderella as a cyborg. It was refreshing to have a different setting not only on Earth (New Beijing) but also the MOON! It's futuristic, of course, and Cinder's best friend Iko (an android) is hilarious. It's a fast, fun read though not as heavy on plot as it could be.

Fun easy read.

Fresh take on Cinderella and I quite enjoyed the world it’s set in.

This was NOT the time to read a book about a pandemic/plague. I found the end of Book One (the first quarter of the novel) somewhat traumatizing given how we’re currently living through Covid-times. I wanted to put the book down after that, but the book is well written and I had to know what happened next.

Other than that, I did not enjoy the various abuses Cinder was subjected to. As a Cinderella analog, these abuses were to be expected, so I mostly take that as input to inform future book selections. Now, having just finished the novel, I am conflicted: the writing is good and I want to know what happens next but I do not enjoy how I feel when I’m reading it. Maybe I’ll read the next novel in the series but maybe I’ll just read spoilers.

i have never read a more predictable book.

i’m serious. by page 44 i had it all figured out. i’m so done with the long lost daughter trope. we all knew what was going to happen as soon as they introduced princess selene.

cinder was fine. she wasn’t annoying or anything, which i appreciate. and guess what guys?!?!?!?

CINDER IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER GIRLS.
