Definitely a challenging read, so all the trigger warnings for this one. I usually really love this author but this was not her best work. Very slow to get started, honestly kind of boring until the mother’s story picks up. Found myself getting very annoyed with Meredith throughout the whole thing, as she just felt very whiny and indecisive, as opposed to actually having challenges she needs to deal with like her mother. Was very interesting learning about the history of Leningrad though.
