Poston does an amazing job of bringing out the beauty of love and death, and even love in the light of death. It was inspiring, funny, and unabashedly unafraid to look at things in a different light. The romance felt secondary to the storyline, but it was nice to have the character take the stage. But the romance in itself was wholesome and well developed, even if it felt a bit rushed at times. Poston’s words are still laced with wonder, hope, and a unique perspective, and I cannot wait to read more of their books.

Okay the story turned out to be pretty good, but it was a bit of a slog through the first 100 pages when i was trying to figure out what was happening… It didn’t help that Florence described Ben as being “climbable like a beanstalk.” I also guessed the plot twist immediately, almost as soon as the plot got going,,, so the emotional third act wasn’t quite there for me at the end. Otherwise though a pretty good book, but i do wish Florence had gotten some therapy along the way.

Predictable, cliche, cheesy, but also sweet and hopeful.  I’m not always a fan of contemporary romance because I feel like it can sometimes get cringey, and I feel like this book definitely leaned in that direction.  That said, I feel like it also had some impactful imagery around death and loss, and I appreciated that element.
