Liked this one more than I thought I would. Really didn't sound up my alley at all (tale of seamstresses of the Queen's wedding dress?) but I was much more interested than I anticipated. I will say that the part of the story taking place in the 'present' didn't grab me as much until later. I also wish I could've seen some more of the aftermath of Heather discovering (spoiler alert) that her mother born as the result of rape, and what her grandmother had kept hidden instead of just bang! She found a dude, and now it's ending. Still, an enjoyable novel overall.

SPOILERS
This would have probably been 3 1/5 or 4 stars until the graphic r*pe scene. I was quite enjoying the book up until that point but the scene was unnecessarily graphic and out of place and more or less ruined the story for me. There are many ways for a woman to get pregnant other than r*pe. I didn't even care about the rest of the story after that.

This book isn't going to save anyone's life, but I enjoyed it.

it was definitely quite slow at times but the overall story was beautiful, while it did center around the making of queen elizabeth’s wedding gown, it was about actual people and their lives around that time, i enjoyed this and i’d recommend this if you enjoy the late 40s and england

Probably more of 3.5 stars. Not quite enough for 4, but enjoyable and cute.

Loved! This is a fun summer read but also has great character development and plot structure. Very heartwarming and well done, but not without some painfully honest sections about life in Europe post WWII.

I loved this book. 3.5 stars. The characters were sympathetic and likeable - I just wish the stories went a little deeper. Great quick read (I only had a day before the library snatched it back!)
