This was a Christmas gift from a boy I was dating at the time about three months into our relationship.
I read the whole book since he was cute, but it left me very concerned for our relationship.
He read it (for the first time!!) years later and apologized for the gift, he didn’t realize how terribly sexist it was
We got married.

Not generally my favorite genre, but it was a fun read. Not as gritty as some noir. Cleverly written, if a bit heavy-handed on the use of metaphor.

This book is a noir icon and lives up to its name! Definitely lays the blueprint for many tropes in the genre. Definitely can be a product of its time. Incredible mystery and web filled plot.
