Just okay, I think this was a book to kill time but it wasn’t that good to be memorable or anything. Don’t think Kate and Xava need book 2, I would think this as a standalone for me

Finally starting this series and just as I had hoped, Zoe didn't let me down!
I love Kate's character. She's stubborn and bratty, and scared of allowing herself to be vulnerable, telling herself she needs to return to Earth. Vaxa'an is strong and hot, alpha in the way we all love, but still respectful and honors her concerns. The conflict didn't stand a chance, it didn't bother me much and I found his groveling to be more than adequate.
I loved that this was more than just smut, although the smut is still very much present and hot af, but I love Zoe's writing and the emotion she is able to weave into her storytelling. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I don’t know if it’s because I read the horde king series first and this book is her first so she hadn’t fully developed as a writer here or it’s just not as strong as a story but this book just didn’t grab my attention like any of her other books have. It’s still good and I’ll probably read the second one to see how this couple’s story ends, and hopefully it gets better! It just felt too simple and very novice especially when compared to horde king
