Wow, this book was slow! I wasn't super impressed with Matched to begin with, but I also didn't hate it and wanted to give Crossed a fair shot. I feel like almost nothing happened! Most of this story consisted of listening to Cassia and Ky's teenage-angsty thoughts in the form of far too much poetry. The writing is set up in a way to make you feel like major secrets and plot twists are being revealed, but it just falls flat. I'm going to give the third book a read just to see if it picks up at all and hopefully it doesn't turn into a DNF.

There was a bit of confusion for me at the start of this one. It felt like there was something missing between the books. I do think this one improved on the last book though. The prose is better - though still far from perfect - and the new characters introduced are much more likable. There was also a much more solid plot, with an actual understandable goal for out heroes rather than just time passing. I just wish the love triangle played less of a role in the whole thing.
