So you finally manage to slip away from the crowd you've been handling and will continue to handle for the next six days, and when you finally let your hair down (literally) and sigh and just want to relax for a few minutes before going back in again, this dude just comes out of the shadows and starts hitting on you with no subtlety whatsoever.
“I don’t do hair, pixie,” he rasped against her ear. “Unless you’d like it pulled.”
THAT escalated quickly. For a first meeting Reed Lawson sure did come on strong, and he was unapologetic for it.
Now ladies I'm sure in real life this would have gone a different way; a way that include running the hell away screaming and/or calling 911.
ANYWAY.
REED LAWSON.
He reminds me of another fav Tessa alpha male of mine, Derek Tyler, but he gives out darker vibes though. I like how he notices everything about Julie and calls it out. And I kinda enjoy watching him pursue her; dude's relentless.
"I’m going to let you get away with the lie tonight, pixie, since I made you come hard enough that I’ll be able to relax. For now. But I need to make one more thing crystal clear before you leave." He traced her ear with his tongue. "If you need servicing while we’re stuck in this fancy-ass hotel for a week, I’m going to be the one to do it. No one else. Not Golden Boy. Not even your right hand." He let go of her arm and she swayed, frowning when he laughed under his breath. "And when you slip between your sheets tonight, think about this. I will service you so hard you’ll be booking another week here just to recover."
WELL THEN.
(I obviously enjoyed this too much)
(I feel obliged to add that I love Julie too--she's a darling--but Reed stole the show for me)
(Damn it, Tessa Bailey)

What an accomplishment to reach this level of emotional depth in 150 pages. It made me laugh, it had Bailey’s classic dirty talk, it yanked at my heart strings a few times and Reed’s gesture with the Go-Fish game even got a little choked up.

I picked this up because I missed Tessa Bailey's heroes. Specifically, their way with words. All I can say is, I definitely got what I was looking for with Reed!
Reed was interesting. Due to his past, he was fairly unemotional. That's what made the sparks fly so well when he spied the people-pleasing and pleasant Julie. I loved the chemistry between these two. Watching them struggle with their attraction to one another while they were seemingly opposites was a lot of fun. If Reed hadn't taken so long to figure out how to come out of this shell, I probably would've liked this story more. As it is, though, I found this very quick, steamy, and enjoyable. I recommend this to contemporary romance fans looking for some steam, and a touch of angst.

holy shit was this book amazing!! it's been awhile since I've read Tessa Bailey's books and I'd forgotten how incredible she is, this story has me crying with the deep emotions that the main couple experienced and beaming with joy at their happy ending! a bonus is Tess'a incredible steamy scenes!!
