Read this after starting and giving up on the Amazon series.
Along with [b:The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet|22733729|The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)|Becky Chambers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1405532474l/22733729._SY75_.jpg|42270825] this book kicked off a shotgunning a number of each series.
This introductory novel offers a horribly realistic view into the near future as humanity is forced to expand across our solar system. The two main POV characters are fascinating flawed protagonists that you really hate until you love, then hate...etc.
The world is easy to hop into and Corey's ability to paint scenes is enthralling.

Phenominal. So exciting from start to finish. Just enough bleakness to make you feel something without being bogged down. Real-feeling characters, with real conflict.
Can’t wait to read the next one!

Great vacation read. Moves fast and most chapters end on a mini-cliff hanger which keeps you reading. I found the first half of the book really interesting where everything is set up and there is a lot of mystery around what is going on. Lots of f-bombs but primarily limited to one character.
Spoiler
I didn't enjoy the vomit zombie/alien stuff as much. It wasn't that it was so terrifying or gross, it just felt like kind of a letdown after the big build up.Moderate: Cursing
Minor: Violence, Gore, and Vomit

Good character definition and lots of depth to the characters. A very good start to an expansive series.
Definitely interesting to follow.
