All of these are equally disturbing in their own unique way!!

"It's the old story," he said. "Get the weapon, and you've got the man."

An interesting short story that really sets the right tone and atmosphere in just 15 pages.

I read this long ago in elementary school, and couldn’t really remember much apart from really enjoying it.

So I decided to read it again as an adult. It still holds its own and is very interesting to close read. It’s short and paints a scene very well. It is great to use as a writing guide for descriptions and creating atmosphere. I used to reference this story all the time, and now I know why it stuck with me.

I read this at work and had to break from it whenever my boss was walking around, so I'll admit that's probably why the pacing felt off. Dahl's style is obviously perfect, but this just never felt quite as solid in story as I wanted. Still a very good short story, though.
