I got only halfway through the book and it is not appropriate for ages under 14. I heard that the farther you go the more inappropriate it gets.

OMG this book was a complete mind trip that just doesn't stop for one second. I really enjoyed the pace of the story because it had me coming back for more plot twists, secrets, and guesses. I enjoyed how each part and even each chapter slowly leads up to the whole truth being revealed. The truth was the biggest surprise because you get small hints about it but never fully being revealed until the final two parts.
SpoilerI could not believe that Cadence was the cause her "accident" and her amnesia. She and her friends Mirren, Johnny, and Gat all agreed to cause the fire but Cadence was the one to plan it without much direction. She had caused the fire to spread to the other floors quicker because she had poured extra gasoline on the books in the library. I could not believe that through the entire book Cadence was the only one that was alive and that all the other liars were dead. It was revealed at the end and it was such a sad love story between her and Gat because he knew the entire time he was dead. I kept sitting on the edge of my seat while reading this and I had finished it only a couple of days because it was sooo intense.

This was a truly inspiring novel touching many different backgrounds. My take on the main character Cadence was truly astounding and the author was a wonderful writer. E. Lockhart managed to both enthrall and alienate you with her character's desicions.

Spoiler The characters are very human, choosing to burn down the island, but are also soft, especially when Cadence's recovery is shown.
They are very human, and relateable, something that is getting harder and harder to find in novels. I appreciated how the author wrote relationships as well, illustrating them as a two way street rather than focused on one member of them.

Overall, I was absolutely delighted with this novel and it's tantalizing plot of mystery and prejudice, sometimes slightly macabre.

The book was interesting and exciting. There were a handful times I was bored but the ending blew my mind. I retread the book a couple of time just to find small hints I missed about the plot twist. It portrays racism, classism, greed for money and an overall shitty family

This was amazing! I'm very late to the game and I wasn't so sure how I would like it since I find myself drifting away from YA, but the prose was beautiful and though there isn't a big plot, the story grabs you and it's hard to put the book down. Did not expect this to be so chilling. The repetition, though intentional, did get a little tiring toward the end but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of this book.
SpoilerIt also helps that I enjoy ghost stories like The Sixth Sense, which E. Lockhart mentions as an inspiration for this book

After the plot, the book was really good, but before, it was quite annoying. Though Cady was a little tiresome throughout the first 3/4 of the novel, it was enjoyable. I read the last 100 pages in one sitting, which is very unusual for me. The plot was interesting, something I didn't expect.

SpoilerMirren and Johnny were such good characters, I honestly didn't think they were ghosts the whole time. I guess the way Cady worded every sentence made me think they were still alive the whole time. I actually thought that Cady was injured in the water accident that "occurred".

I finally figured out at the end why they were called "The Liars", and it was fascinating.
