Very glad to be done. This - from another Goodreads reviewer - sums up the book "Die Hard 2 meets Walker Texas Ranger in Mayberry; chaos ensues." So not my cup of tea.

Pretty generic action book. A blinding snowstorm. A mixed group of terrorists taking over a courthouse. A hostage situation. A lone Ranger working behind the scenes to fight back. Kind of like a lesser version of Die Hard. I might have gone 3.5 stars but there's a little too much "Texans are great, immigrants are bad" that pops up every once in a while. But I did like Sonny Hawke and I'd consider reading another book with him in it.

I enjoyed the book.
The action is a little far fetched but keeps you reading.

A terrorist squad takes over the courthouse in the tiny west Texas town of Ballard, in the middle of the worst blizzard in 100 years. Texas Ranger Sonny Hawke happens to be inside the courthouse, with his school teacher wife, Kelly and her class of high school students, including their twin children. The terrorists are an odd bunch, comprised of jihadists, Mexican cartel members and American alt-right militia members. The man in charge put them together in that manner to confound the authorities. The mastermind had a goal, but the guy on the ground in Ballard had a whole other agenda. However, Sonny Hawke had a very different plan of action. Non-stop action and some of the best place setting writing you will ever read. One riot, one Ranger is their motto, and Reavis Z. Wortham shows us that truth.
