I liked how the author wrote Wonder Woman's naiveté here.

I heard about this series through Twitter and I knew I just had to check it out. And boy, I am glad I did. There were some bumps in the road that weren't fun, but most of this book was fantastic.

This book is all about Wonder Woman who decides to leave her home island and go to Super Hero High to learn all about being a superhero. Which she already is, but she wants to learn new things, make friends, and much much more. She wants to become better. She is really driven to proof to her parents, but also her peers and teachers, that she is truly Wonder Woman.
She was a really interesting, and fun character, and I loved how she went through her school life. She really grows as the story goes on, from a girl who barely knows about life outside of Paradise Island, to a girl who is strong, has her wits with her, and who has made friends.
There were just 2 things I didn't like about her, and that made me feel a bit frustrated. How she didn't seem to understand the littlest things, how she took everything literal, how she just seemed so dumb. Yes, she was sheltered, but this is beyond sheltered, this was just wth how did you ever survive life so far if you can't even grasp that!
The second thing I didn't like was how selfish she was at times. Like with the monthly superhero thing? How she just knew it had to be her. How with the triathlon she just didn't get the hint. And several other instances. Sure, she is also selfless and will do anything for everyone, but this just seemed odd and weird. I hope she learned a lesson about humility from her time at the school. She needs that.

I so loved all the characters in this book, the good guys, the bad guys. Harley (or Harlequin), Green Lantern, Cheetah, Beast Boy, and so so so many more. It was a delight and I just kept squealing when a new character popped up and got introduced. We also have several human or non-superhero people that are known to all. Lois Lane, Barbara Gordon for instance!
It was such a delight, and I do hope we will meet many more superheroes, and villains as this series go on.
Not only do we see the teens, but we also see adult heroes as Hippolyta, Superman.

The lessons, the school, it was all so much fun, and I would love to participate in all of them. To learn how to make uniforms, learn about superhero history, do fly tricks, solve Riddler's riddles, dodge Harley's camera, and much more. It all sounds awesome, though also very intense. I can imagine the kids are under pressure, and I wish that more people in this book knew that, instead of judging the characters based on what they saw on Harley's feed.

I didn't like how the mystery of who did the threats was handled, or actually the revelation on who did it. The mystery itself was interesting, and I was curious to find out who did it. I had a few suspects, and I set out to find out who it was.
The person who did it, well she was on my list. :D
But how it was solved, I will put this under spoiler tags.
SpoilerMagically, just magically Wonder Woman knows how has done and also has a whole explanation on the why's and how's. Sorry, but that was just unbelievable. There was no clue that Wonder Woman knew who did it, she kept worrying about it, and all of the sudden, at the last pages she knows? HAHAHAH, I don't believe that one bit.

But all in all, this was terrific book and I can't wait for the next books. Super Girl is up next and I am excited to learn more about that character!
If you love superheroes, if you want to know more about them, be sure to check this one out!

Book #136 Read in 2016
Wonder Woman at Super Hero High by Lisa Yee

This is the first in a young adult series. This is a series set in a high school for super heroes in the making. Wonder Woman leaves Paradise Island to enroll in this school and her sheltered upbringing causes some moments of confusion for her to fit in to school. This was a good quick read that middle school readers, as well as high school readers, as well as adult readers would enjoy. I borrowed this book from the public library.

Cute book. Lots of fun DC references for people older than a teenager. I even had to go look up a few because they pre-dated my knowledge base. Figuring out who was an adult Super Hero and who was a teenage Super Hero was interesting... they didn't always go the way I expected. I think my biggest nitpick is the implication that Wonder Woman was her birth name, and Diana was never mentioned. So now she has a rather silly nickname. I get the age this book was written for, but that one detail bugged me the entire time. I will prolly keep reading these (I already have book 2) as this one was pretty fun. (Plus I'm an HQ fan, so seeing her as a burgeoning teenage media mogul amuses the heck out of me.)

Clunky writing, but the emotional arc— Wonder Woman learning what it means to lead and excellent— is ON POINT.

How could I say no to a story about superheroes in high school? This story follows Wonder Woman as a young teen getting off the island, away from her Amazon family, and coming to the real world to learn how to be an amazing superhero. This book has the best lovable characters, ever the characters you know who will eventually become villains are just adorable (my favorite Harley Quinn). Someone is out to get Wonder Woman, with the help of her friends, she tries to find who wants to make her leave the school.

Lots of action and adventure, fun characters and a series I know I will enjoy. I can’t wait to read the next one. Highly recommend this series to all ages but this is a great book to young girls, so fun to see the female heroes getting a chance in the spotlight.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my review.

Have a great day and Happy Reading!

This story is basically about Wonder Women attending a high school for superheroes. Wonder Woman wants to fit in and tries her best to stay out of trouble. She meets several people as becomes suspicious about threatening notes that were sent to her. She didn't delve deep enough in the notes, but she does delve deep into improving herself there. She wants to become popular, but she learns that being popular, isn't always the best role. Helping others is better than helping herself. That's what friends are made for.

2.5 stars | The book wasn't bad in itself. The plot was entertaining, fast-paced and age appropriate (it's a middle grade novel), but what I have issues with are the characters. They are supposed to be high schoolers, but they read a lot more younger than that. I also find it quite annoying that they never ONCE called each other by their actual names. I don't know if I'm the only one, but Wonder Woman came across as stupid instead of what I assume the author wanted to be funny... But yay for a series that is actually centered around the girl super heroes.

I'm probably going to read the next one in the series, just cause I really like Supergirl.
