I love this book and Carl Sagan. The way he talks about and promotes science is simply incredible. This is for me a collection of thoughts about the universe and ourselves, beautifully written to make us awe at the extreme vastness upon us. I have never felt more human than when reading this book.
The Cosmos may be densely populated with intelligent beings. But the Darwinian lesson is clear: There will be no humans elsewhere. Only here. Only on this small planet. We are a rare as well as an endangered species. Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.

3.5, but it's totally a case of "it's not you, it's me!". Beautifully written, even poetic at times, and extremely engaging. I was just not in the right mood to fully appreciate it.
