This took me sooooo long to read, but not by any fault of the book. It had more to do with me being busy. That being said, this is a pretty good book to read over a long period of time, because it's so relaxing.

I like that the romance was slow-burn friends-to-lovers and took a major back seat. The reconnection of family got all the time it deserved, and it was great. On the other hand, some of the parental drama was super frustrating. I totally understand where both sides were coming from, but poor communication like that drives me crazy.

That being said, this isn't my favorite Sarah Dessen book, but it was a good time.

I liked this book, my biggest issue was the main character’s dad. He was annoying. Parts of the book were slow and uneventful or boring. Overall, I enjoyed the main character and her family dynamics. The ending felt rushed.

"You can make your life, or life can make you. Was it really that simple of a choice? As I hit the dock's end and jumped, I wanted to see it, that change from passenger to driver, Emma to Saylor, watching to doing. So when I hit the cold lake and went under, I kept my eyes open."
