This book had nothing new, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This book is a GameLit about a guy playing a VRMMO.
Snarky AI companion.
Renown/prestige system.
World's First.

Seems pretty generic at first glance. But I don't know why but it actually felt a bit fresh. There was character development. There were multiple companions and not all of them were snarky. The snark did not overstay the welcome. The MC wasn't OP in any rate even with the big advantage he had. That was in fact the biggest part of the plot.

I realized while reading this that "whatch this dude play videogames for fun" doesn't really cut it for me when it comes to litrpgs or related genres. I don't need a SAO-situation every time, but without any reason why the MC can't just quit the game and live happily ever after I find it difficult to care about what's happening.

Pretty fun, mostly for the friendship between Frank and Ned. I found the pacing a little slow, but will likely pick up the next in the series.

A fun and well written game adventure

A lot of fun to read, with a lot happening! Great character building, and a unique world. Looking forward to reading the next one!

Applause. Best book in the genre that I’ve read in a long time.

MC is a rich kid and buys all 50 starter spots for new MMORPG.
He pairs with a very snarky battle axe.
After 30% the book got better. the beginning was a bit too much going for the quick joke in the banter between the axe and the MC.
Definitely going to read the next one.

Fun, enjoyable ride

A fun book and looks to be the start of an entertaining series. I can’t wait for book 2. I need more House in my life.
