I really like this series, although there is a LOT of sex, it doesn't cloud the story. I liked Jenna and Brock all right but it really needs to end. It seems as if Adrian can't end the series until they all have mates, like "as soon as they are all mated they can finally catch the bad guy and end this never ending series" The breedmates & Jenna stepped it up in this book, and I like that they are a lot more involved in the mission. I am curious to see how Jenna ends up, after her ordeal with the ancient. I was surprised more of that didn't come out in this book.

I really did like this book... my only problem was the ending, I honestly didn't like it and I was hoping that what was happening to Jenna would have been fully explained. This is part of a series, so I'm hoping the next book goes into more detail about it.

The story line was a good one, and I loved Jenna, so far she is my favorite of the heroines, but I didn't feel the conection between Jenna and Brock.

The Midnight Breed series is quite high on my list of guilty pleasures, but the series is prone to dull-lead-couple-itis, a tragic illness that can strike even the most entertaining of paranormal romance series. Fortunately, Taken By Midnight benefited from an unusual couple that you couldn't help but cheer for.

Jenna was a great heroine and is interestingly the first non-breedmate lady to take the lead. Her desolation and sense of isolation in the Breed's compound is quite striking - none of the other ladies have ever just made a run for it! The haunting choice offered to her by the Ancient in the events prior to this novel echo effectively throughout the book. Yet she proves that she is steely and independent throughout and more than capable of kicking butt, even when her world is falling apart.

Brock was a little less exciting - personality wise, I am struggling to call on an attribute that is distinct to him. His ability was interesting, but I felt like more could have been mined here (taking on other people's pain surely should have a bigger impact on one's psyche?). However, it was great to read a book with a black hero and a white women and for it to be a fairly minor point in their relationship. Not entirely sure why the UK cover features a white man and an Asian lady, but there we go.

Also, this book makes me want Chase's book NOW. I only have one more book to go, so I expect there is more agony and brooding from him still to come. Let's hope his book is worth the wait.

Another great book from one of my fav Authors. Next to Hunter and Dante, Brock is one of my fav breed males. The breed has taken Jenna Darrow back to boston with them to find out what the anicent did to her. Back in the last book Brock seemed to have a thing for her he was very protective of her even snapping at Chase. Jenna remembers everything that happened when the ancient had her captive. After being brought into the Breed's compound she excapes and finds herself shot and left in a freezer.

I really like Lara Adrian. She is a few authors that I know that have character's from different backgrounds and cultures. I wish some of my other fav authors were like her.

I liked them as a couple Brock is so sweet and caring and he was always using his breed ability on Jenna.

Fav moment:

His breed ability is the ability to take ones pain and make it his own. I thought it was so romantic and sweet that he was willing to do that for her. Yes Jenna is not a breedmate but to brock that didn't matter he still wanted to be with her.

I also like the sex scenes between them.

least fav moment wish we had more of Jenna and what she was becoming, but I have all faith in Lara and maybe he would know more in up coming books.

Fav Qoutes:

“God, I never planned on you, Jenna. I thought I was playing it safe, but you’ve changed everything.” – Brock

Strong wrap up to the Jenna story line started at the end of the Alex and Kade book. The Dragos as the super-villain story line needs to wrap up. It's dragging on too long

This is the eighth in this series. They are still enjoyable. I'd pre-order the next one.

*NO Spoilers.

The Good: Loved Brock and Jenna with passion. Great characters and the plot was very well constructed. Loved how the Breed Mates are so involved and active! Kick-Ass! =D

The Bad: Brock was pretty much a background character for a while, so it took me a while to care for him.

The Romance: Quite the steamy affair Jenna and Brock have, very enjoyable!
