2.5 stars! That was ok! Liked the friendship, the romance was not my cup of tea but it was fine

I’ve been having a love affair with this author and her co written CU hockey series so was super excited to find out this book was part of that world although removed. Beck and Jacobs, one of my fav couples make a cameo appearance and I LOVE when authors do that. However, this one just did not have the magic books in that series did. Yes, it had a hockey players but the love part just didn’t quite work for me. In her other books, she’s explored the concept of men struggling with their sexual identity or being slapped in the face with it kind of like Beck and Jacobs but this felt forced. I could never quite get on board with Rainn and Whit. Rainn was too conflicted and confused and never seemed to get past that and I just felt like Whit could do better. It’s such a slow burn that they didn’t go all the way until 75% and even then I wasn’t sure how I felt. However, it had that charm and hilarity I love about her books which kept this at about a 3.5 for me. Also, I enjoyed the wine bar so I’ll be looking into more books in that series.

I will say though, when Rainn wasn’t stuck in his head, I found this book rather sexy. If only there had been more of that.

[b:Headstrong|57967840|Headstrong (Vino & Veritas, #3)|Eden Finley|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620352741l/57967840._SX50_.jpg|87875939] was a light and fun entry in the multi author Vino & Veritas series. Whit and Rainn were both cute and sweet guys, and together they were even more pleasant and entertaining. I always enjoy the inexperienced/virgin angle, and this time we get that times two. The hockey backdrop was also an added bonus. This book had very low angst, which considering both MCs are first timers was maybe not all that realistic, but still appreciated. Overall, this may not have been on par with the author’s CU Hockey series (cameo from Jacobs and Beck was an unexpected treat), but it was still a quick and sexy, enjoyable read/listen.

4⭐️ Aww, this was so sweet!

I adore Rainn and Whit! I saw a lot of myself in Rainn and seeing him struggle so much with not being able to find fulfillment really made my heartache. It was touching seeing Whit help him through it and find his true happiness again. + loved seeing Beck and Jacobs ofc!!

Iggy Toma was better than Tim Paige but with both I had a hard time recognizing who was speaking and which sentences were thought, spoken or the narrator.
The story was average.

Awesome

One gay hockey playert enter in a bar... met a straight bartender ex-hockey player and decided he will be his wingman and... yeah that's the story line. Bi-awakening. Crush dream.
I would have still love to saw the meeting the parent with Rainn mom's. There's a bonus somewhere for the thanksgiving... so I would go grab it. This story is awsome, like always with Eden.

Kind of a middle of the road book for me. It's a pretty basic hopeless crush on a straight guy that realises he's not actually straight story.

I think my major problem is that the blurb on this one does not connect with the story AT ALL. "When I first met Whit, I couldn’t get away from him fast enough. He’s a hockey player, and I hate everything to do with the sport that once broke my heart." Rein doesn't like Whitt for like 3 chapters max - the hockey thing ends up being a big part of the story, but this blurb makes it sound more like an enemies-to-friends to lovers when Rein gets over "disliking" Whitt in 3 seconds flat. "But I can’t help feeling sorry for the guy. He’s newly out and desperate to meet someone, but his eagerness seems to scare potential hook-ups away. Agreeing to be his wingman should’ve been simple. Watching him flirt with other guys made things complicated." I didn't really see much eagerness, and I would argue Rein never actually did any wingman-ing. Whitt just sits at the bar Rein works at, talks to Rein when he has a break, and then the two of the go home to Rein's place and they hang out. It feels like the author was giving the prompt to write a wingman story and attempted it, but ended up going in a very different direction, and the concept should have just been written out of the blurb from the get go.
