kiniperson's review against another edition
I just don’t think it was for me. I was struggling to get invested in the characters, who felt moody for moodiness sake. I think the author did a great job painting a vivid picture of a post-Katrina traumatized city, and some interesting perspectives on it. Some of the ways she wrote about people of color rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, but I also know I’m pretty sensitive to those things.
Moderate: Drug abuse and Suicide attempt
