While I do enjoy history and think it is fun to have a different take on history, I did not find this book as enjoyable as I was hoping I would. It's definitely different, and there are good points in the book. For me, there was nothing that hooked me and made me want to continue. I just finished it because I had started it. The characters are likable. The story is something I haven't heard before. I could honestly take or leave this book, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

A world where Mary Shelley and Ada Lovelace are friends, and together through magic and science they bring to life a Automaton that will change the world.

These books are sneaky long at almost 500 pages.
And while that is not technically long, they don’t need to be this long. I found chunks of this book to be long winded and needlessly dragged out, while other parts flew by. This made for a tedious yet fun reading experience.

The characters in these books are fun and and the sarcastic banter is always top notch.
This is a light science fiction that would be great for people who like a sprinkle of sci-if with out going FULL sci-if.

These books are entertaining, and cute with some pretty witty one liners.

The fifth installment in the Lady Janies/Maries series, My Imaginary Mary, lacks some of the charm of earlier stories. I may be overly critical since I was hoping for more of a focus on the actual events surrounding the creation of Frankentstein, this novel focus more on the events leading up to an occasion where both Shelley's and Lord Byron are together during a stormy night telling stories. Despite being the weakest in the series and leaning more heavily on pop culture references and cheap laughs than any of its predecessors, this was still a very fun listen and probably works much better for its intended YA audience.
