Almost 4 stars but I felt a few chapters could have been dropped and some of the details trimmed to make this a tighter book.
But overall as a fairly new Premier League fan I learned a LOT about the history of the league, the teams, the owners and the players. It's amazing to see how much it's grown over the past decade or so.
The parts I liked the least about the book were the behind-the-scenes looks at the owners. Sorry, but as dramatic as the authors tried to make those scenes, it was hard to sympathize with billionaires having temper tantrums about not getting their way.

I never in a million years would have guessed that I'd be sitting up late at night fervently trying to finish a book about soccer, a sport I don't even particularly care for or understand. But this book makes me want to watch soccer. It's a fascinating story of how an empire was built, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This was a tale in two parts
Part I: oh man I love soccer this will be a lot of fun. Soccer, soccer, soccer. Oh this is super interesting.
Part II: oh my god I get it. Rich people spending money and getting richer. Boring!!
All-in-all: kind of a slog. Probably closer to 2.5 then 3. Fine if you’re really into soccer, English soccer specifically (Go Gunners!), but if not I’d avoid it.

Perfect book for someone like me who has only recently gotten into watching Premier League soccer. Not a comprehensive history of the league, but a detailed account of how the PL grew to become the richest, most watched league in the world. Well written, quick chapters.
