This was mentioned on The West Wing Weekly and the discussion really intrigued me.

A fun, quick read. I was a bit surprised as I was expecting a bit more vitriol and the Hitch didn't really seem to get on a roll until the closing pages. Really, there is a lot more dirt out there on the Sacred Cow of Calcutta and this volume just seems to scratch the surface. If anyone still holds to the popular mythology of her however, then this is a good introduction to other perspectives.

If this book was a Youtube video, the likely title would be: "Hitchens UTTERLY DESTROYS mother Teresa".

Ein sehr gutes und wichtiges Buch. Was mir gefehlt hat, waren die Quellen auf die er sich bezieht…

It has been a long time since I read Hitchens because I couldn't stomach his position on Iraq. But with this book I recalled why I used to enjoy his writing so much. It's not just his use of language, which is always pleasurable. It is also his ability to critically investigate, and in so doing eviscerate, those whom the world holds up on a pedestal. After seeing too many commemorations of Mother Theresa around India, I needed concrete evidence of her corruption and with this slim volume I found it.

Clear, concise and level-headed. You will never think of Mother Theresa in the same way again.

Hitchens book opened my eyes, the power of the Catholic Church, the terrible actions that comprises the life of Mother Teresa can only lead to the belief that organized religion is not just cruel, but evil beyond any understanding.
That so much money was donated to her to help the poor and that almost none of the monies were used to help the poor (or give them any comfort in their pain) but rather to fund the Catholic Church's view on Abortion and Contraception is a fact that cannot be disputed.
The World has been duped to believe the good works of Mother Teresa, the reality totally the opposite. She is responsible for the deaths of millions and the suffering of billions worldwide.

If there is a hell I believe they all belong in it.
