It has been a very long time since I’ve cried this hard over a book.

If you go by the blurb, this book sometimes slightly loses track of what it should be, but never long enough for me to get impatient, which is also due to the writing. As a result this was surprising, but also sweet and reflective throughout. Once the time travel aspect finally picks up, for a while it serves more as a reminder that Alice can actively make choices in her own life than as a way to come to terms with what’s happening to her father. Once the focus gets back to their relationship however, is when the story really comes together.

What an absolutely beautiful book. I think this actually may be my favorite book now.

This is about a woman named Alice who, on her 40th birthday, finds herself transported back to her 16th birthday. This book is so sweet, reflective and sentimental. The storyline focuses on Alice’s relationship with her father (which is so tender) and how she consistently goes back in time to spend more time with him—seeking answers, but also just to be in his presence.

This book truly makes me appreciate life so much more. It encourages me to be more in the moment and now to take time for granted because it is so fleeting. Highly recommend this read.

It isn’t super fast-paced and it took me a while to actually start it, but it was well-worth the read.

I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting from this book, but I definitely got more out of it than I thought I would!

There are a few of your typical time traveling tropes, but this is just a beautiful slice of life. It really explores the “what if” and how important even the most mundane of moments can be.

A beautiful contemporary with accessible time-travel elements. Centers mainly on a woman in her 40’s in NYC, navigating her life and the choices she’s made and what life she wants to live.
Those that liked midnight library will like this, but I think this one is better.
